Funeral services for Edith E. Carter, 73, 2457 U.S. 12, Niles, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Halbritter Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold O. Schaap of Edwardsburg officiating.
Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
Carter died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Silverbrook Manor following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 21, 1919, in Piggott, Ark., she lived in Niles since 1952, coming from Pollard, Ark.
On Dec. 13, 1937, in Piggott, she married the late Otto G. Carter, who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1983.
She was a retired custodian for Niles Community Schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Echevarria of Niles, a son, Otto D. Carter of Niles; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Letha J. Bell of Decatur, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home.
