      Byford G. Jones, 63, of 421 North 13th Street, died at 11 a.m. Friday in Billings Hospital, Chicago, following an illness of several months.  He had been in the hospital for the past three weeks.
      Mr. Jones, who for 40 years had worked as an engineer for the New York Central Railroad, was born April 27, 1895 in Washington, Ind., and came to this community from that town.  He was a veteran of World War I and a member of St Joseph Valley Lodge 4, F. and A.M.
      Surviving are his wife Ruby, four daughters, Mrs. Louis Drolet and Mrs. William DePoy, both of Niles; Mrs. Donald Morrow of Park Forest, Ill., and Mrs. Kenneth Cogswell of Livonia, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Ezra Jones of Niles, and Nolan Jones of Washington, Ind. and three sisters, Mrs. Audie Gaither, Mrs. Versa Carnahan and Miss Bernice Jones, all of Washington, Ind.
      Full Masonic rites will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at the Kiger-Halbritter Funeral Home, where friends may call.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
