Ruth T. Bartlett, 99, of Columbus Boulevard, Sebring, Fla. died at 1:42 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 in Florida following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 30, 1910 in Michigan City, Ind. to Gregory Christofer and Matilda (Horn) Brown. She attended school in Michigan City and lived in Niles until 2004, when she moved to Florida.
Ruth was employed in the offices of the Kawneer Corp. in Niles for 20 years. She was also a member of the Kawneer Kayettes, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
On May 18, 1934 in Niles, she married Irving r. Bartlett, who preceded her in death July 19, 1968. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Irene M. Canfield on July 19, 2004.
Surviving family includes a nephew, Edward H. (Helen) James of Sebring; Ed and Helen’s son, David James of Margate, Fla.; and David’s son, Ryan James of Lakeville, Ind.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. A private committal will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to the National Humane Society.
