            SOUTH BEND—Frank W. Vetter, 54, of 219 Tomti Avenue, South Bend, died Saturday in the St. Joseph Hospital here.

            Vetter was born Jan 26, 1902, in Niles and is survived by his widow, Nora Vetter, one step daughter, Mrs. George Williams and two nephews, Gale Vetter of Boulder, Colo., and Donald Vetter of Miamai, Fla.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Orvis Funeral Home in South Bend with the Rev. Ralph M. Jones of the River Park Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Veteran Berrien Co. Farmer Found Dead in Orchard;
Rites Thursday

            Stricken with apoplexy while trimming trees in his orchard, Fred C. Vetter, veteran Niles farmer, was found dead shortly after noon Monday.  He was 78 years old.

            His lifeless body was found in the orchard by Claude Granning, an employe, who went to look for Mr. Vetter when the latter failed to return home for dinner.

            A lifelong resident of Berrien county, Mr. Vetter had been actively engaged in farming for the last 65 years.  For the last 20 yeas he had been working his fram three miles southwest of Niles.

            Besides his widow, Catherin, he leaves one son, Dr. George Vetter, Niles; a daughter, Mrs. Iva Weaver, Niles; two brothers, William and Frank Vetter, Niles, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Schanbacher, Niles; also six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

            Another son, Albert C. Vetter, died in 1925.

            Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon in the Price and Kiger funeral home with the Rev. Guy W. Simon of the First Presbyterian church officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home, but are requested to omit flowers.

Remains of Buchanan man will be buried in Niles

            Mr. and Mrs. John Rhoades were called to Buchanan yesterday on account of the death of Mrs. Rhoades’ brother, William G. Vetter.

            The remains will be brought to Niles tomorrow afternoon and will be taken directly to Silver Brook cemetery for interment.  Rev. Watson of Buchanan will accompany the funeral party and conduct the committal services.

            Mr. Vetter is survived by one daughter and one son of Buchanan; a sister, Mrs. Rhoades of Niles and a brother, Charles Vetter who resides north of Niles.

            The deceased carried an insurance in an old line company.

Mrs. Anna Wize, aged 59 years, died on Saturday night at 11o’clock at the home of John Herkimer, on Portage Prairie, after a fortnight’s illness.  Deceased is survived by a son, John Wize, who is employed by James Thomson, and sister, who resides at St. Joseph.  The funeral took place this afternoon, Rev. A.T. Ferguson of this city officiating.  The remains were interred at Silver Brook cemetery.

Gus Vetter, who left here three weeks ago, for Westpoint, Miss., with a hope of benefiting his health, died there yesterday of paralysis, aged 43 years.  He is survived by a little son, aged 11 years; a sister, Mrs. John Rhoades, of West Niles, and two brothers, Charles, who lives a few miles northwest of town, and William, of near Sumnerville.  The remains will be brought here for burial.  The deceased was well known and highly respected.

The funeral of the late Gus Vetter took place at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon from the home of his sister, Mrs. John Rhoades of Lincoln Avenue, West Niles.  Rev. A.T. Freguson conducted the services and the remains were interred at Silver Brook cemetery.  A delegation from the M.W. A. of which order the deceased was a member, attended the funeral.

Only a sister, Mrs. Mary Wise of Dunkirk, Ind., survives Bert Earl, 902 Michigan St., a lifelong bachelor who died in Pawating Hospital Tuesday after nine days’ illness.

He was born in Wells County, Ind., June 2, 1883, and has lived in Niles for the last 40 years.

Last rites will be conducted at the Pifer Funeral Home Thursday at 1 p.m., by the Rev. Leon Manning of the First Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

            Adelyne M. Earl, 86, of Bry Fern Nursing Home, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday at Berrien General Hospital at Berrien General Hospital following an illness of five year.

            A former gift wrapper in a store in Florida, she was born May 25, 1890 in Niles.

            Survivors include a grandson, John Earl of Loveland, Ohio; a brother William R. Park of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pifer Chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Vincent Anderson of Trinity Episcopal Church,  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.     

            Friends may call after 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
