Lloyd Otto Schultz, 37, 321 1/2 Bertrand rd., died at 6:30 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 19. He had been ill for several years.

Mr. Schultz, a janitor for the Fishing & Tackle Products of America, South Bend, was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Gary, Ind., and came to Niles from Buchanan 13 years ago. He was married on July 7, 1947 in Niles to Mary Corwin, who survives.

Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schultz, Buchanan, and a brother, Harry Schultz, Gary Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Kiger and Halbritter Funeral home with the Rev. Herbert Meussling, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ (Evangelical and Reformed), officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Saturday noon.

Mrs. Seifert, 73, Dies After Crash in South Bend

Mrs. Kathrina Seifert, 73, who died Tuesday in her home in South Bend of injuries suffered Dec. 28 when struck by an automobile in South Bend, was a former resident of Niles.

She was a sister of the late John Bauman and the late Mrs. Charles Pfeil.  Mrs. Seifert was born in Germany, Sept. 23, 1866, but spent most of her early girlhood in Niles. She is survived by two step-children, Mrs. Hattie Gilliland, Detroit, and Mrs. Mayme Jennings, Marion, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Rena Fritz, Detroit, and Mrs. Laura Motz, in Canada, and a brother, Henry Bauman, also in Canada.

Friends may call at the home, 513 South Bend avenue, tonight. Services will be conducted Friday at 1 o'clock in the L.H. Orvis chapel by the Rev. Waldemar Goffeney, pastor of Eton Evangelical and Reformed church. The body will be brought here to Silverbrook cemetery for burial. Her husband, Andrew S. Seifert, died Dec. 4, 1939.

No funeral services for Richard E. Singleton, 62, 265 Roosevelt Dr., Niles.

The remains have been cremated.

Singleton died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday at Pawating Hospital following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 30, 1930, in South Bend, he was a lifetime area resident.

On Oct. 19, 1948, in Niles, he married the former Wanita Bell Baxter, who survives.

He was a retired truck driver for C&E Trucking Co., of South Bend.

Survivors include his mother Azuba Singleton of Niles; two daughters, Linda Moyer of Niles and Kimberly LaPlace of Georgia; two sons, Richard Singleton of Goshen,Ind., and Chris Singleton of Niles; five grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Hillyer of Niles and Jack Singleton of Niles.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.

Arrangements were handled by Pifer-Smith Funeral Home.

Edward H. Wandrey

Edward H. Wandrey, 88, 102 Stowe Ct., Niles, died Thursday at Chateau Gardens in Flint.

Born Dec. 29, 1895, in Kouts, Ind., he lived in Niles for the past 41 years. A World War I Army veteran, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans as well as St. Paul Lutheran Church. He retired as conductor from the New York Central Railroad on Dec. 29, 1963, after 40 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Elma; two sons, Edward W. of Rohnert Park, Calif and Thomas J. of Burton; one brother, Roy Wandrey of Beeville, Texas; one sister, Ruth Wandrey of Kouts, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held both in Flint and Niles. The Flint services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the Sharp & Swartz Funeral Home, 605 Garland, Flint.

Niles services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gregory J. Gerendas of that church officiating. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 1 p.m until the time of the service.

Friends who desire may make contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Gerald Bradley Wedel

NILES--Gerald Bradley Wedel, 67, a Niles native living at Hendersonville, Tenn., died Thursday at a Hendersonville nursing home after an extended illness.

A retired farmer, Mr. Wedel was born April 11, 1903, in Niles, and had lived in Hendersonville for three years, moving there from Dowagiac. On June 15, 1930, he married Pauline Trusner, who survives. He was a member of the St. Joseph Valley Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Jerry of Vasser, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Mills of Niles and Mrs. Karen Renfro of Hendersonville; a sister, Mrs. George Thurston of Niles, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today in the Pifer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arlan Schlundt of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating.  Burial was in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Rev. George Wickware
April 5, 1907-Oct. 9, 1962

The Rev. George Wickware, 55, of 514 Ironwood drive, died Tuesday at 10 p.m. at his home following an illness of several months.

He was born April 5, 1907, in Evansville, Ind. He came to Niles from that city in 1940, and lived the rest of his life here.

Survivors include his widow, Marie; his father, Vincent Wickware Sr., Evansville; a brother Vincent Wickware Jr., also of Evansville; and two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Davis and Mrs. Helen Austin, both of Indianapolis.

He was an active pastor of the Church of God in Christ in Burlington, Vt., for six years. After coming to Niles, he began the mission, The Church of God in Christ, on Ironwood Road.  His illness forced him to retire as active pastor, although he was still active in an advisory capacity.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, with place of services to be announced. Elder James S. Lee of Kalamazoo will officiate; burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the Kiger Funeral Home.
