Niles News in Brief: DEATH JESSE D. O'CONNELL

Jesse D. O'Connell, 44, a former resident of Niles, and whose surviving widow is Mrs. Nora Neib O'Connell, died on Wednesday morning in the hospital at the Soldiers Home in Grand Rapids, where he had been a patient for six months. He had served during the world war, overseas, and had been in ill health since his active service in the war. The body has been brought to Niles and the funeral services will be held in the Troost and Augustine chapel tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. G.W. Simon, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Silver Brook cemetery. The body may be viewed at the chapel. Mr. O'Connor [sic] while in Niles was employed as a chef in the Forler hotel. He is survived by a widow to whom he was married nine years ago and who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Neib, deceased, pioneer residents of Niles, by one son, Horace, of Fort Wayne, Ind,, his father, Dennis O'Connell, of Fort Wayne, Ind., a sister, Mrs. Mattie Ransbotton, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and a brother, Maurice, of Lima, Ohio. Mrs. Ransbottom is in the city and the father and sons are expected tomorrow for the funeral services. Mrs. O'Connell and Mrs. Ransbottom are at the home of Mrs. O'Connell's sister, Mrs. William Conrad.

Niles News in Brief: FUNERAL JESSE O'CONNELL

Funeral services for Jesse O'Connell were conducted this afternoon by the Rev. W.W. Slee, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in Silver Brook cemetery. Mr. O'Connell, who formerly lived in Niles, died on Wednesday morning in Grand Rapids where he had been ill . . . [illegible] . . the widow was formerly Miss Nora Neib of Niles. Rev. Slee conducted the services for the Rev. G.W. Simon of the Presbyterian church, who was ill today.
