MRS. ANN B. GRAVES

Passed Away at Her Home on Lincoln Ave. Last Evening

Mrs. Ann B. Graves, relict of the late Joseph S. Graves, died last evening at her home on south Lincoln Ave., aged nearly 77 years.

Deceased was born at Lowell, Mass., June 23, 1828; was married at Aurora, Ohio, Oct. 3, 1854 and came to Niles Feb. 27, 1875.  A son, Joseph Graves and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Morris, both of this city, survive their mother.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home, Rev. C.E. Marvin of the Presbyterian church, of which Mrs. Graves was a member, officiating.  Burial at Silver Brook.

Passed Away

Died, Jan. 9, 1898--Mrs. Ella Graves, beloved wife of Joseph Graves, aged 40 years, five months and 26 days.

A long illness preceded death which occurred at her home in West Niles at 4 o'clock Sunday morning, of dropsy.  Although not well for a long time she did not complain and has recently failed gradually until she passed peacefully into eternal rest.

Mrs. Graves was formerly Miss Ella J. Summers, daughter of Mrs. Nancy Summers of Fourth street north, and a sister of Mrs. Chas. Potter, Mrs. Chas. Sinclair, Mrs. Will Earl and the Misses Nannie, Lottie and Grace Summers.  Miss Nannie has recently been in Chicago but is at present at home while Miss Grace is at Colon, Mich.

The deceased was born in this city August 15, 1858, and has always resided here.  She was married to Jos. Graves, who survives her, Jan. 24, 1883. In her death her relatives and many friends suffer a serious loss for she was ever a kind, obliging and cheerful being.

The funeral took place at 2 o'clock yesterday from the late residence in West Niles.  Rev. J.G. Lowrie of the Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was a member, officiated.  Interment in the Silver brook cemetery.

Henry D. Graves, Niles Resident 64 Years, Buried Today

Services for Henry D. Graves, 88, who died Friday afternoon in his home at 642 South Lincoln avenue, were conducted this afternoon at 2 by Dr. Guy W. Simon, pastor of hte[sic] First Presbyterian church, in the Pifer funeral home.

He had been in poor health the last two weeks. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Hattie Morris, with whom he made his home.

Born Feb. 27, 1855, in Aurora, Ohio, he came to Niles from Iowa 64 years ago and made his home since then on South Lincoln avenue.

Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.

On the 21st instant in this village of the Scarlet fever, Ida, daughter of Mrs. & William Graves, aged two years.
Also on the 24th, of the same disease, Charles, son of Doctor James Bloodgood, aged three years.

TO BRING BODY TO NILES

The body of Cyrus F. Aldward[sic] will be brought to Niles form Chicago tomorrow and will be taken directly to Silver Brook cemetery from the Michigan Central station for burial in the family lot.  Mr. Aldward was a former resident of Niles.  No particulars concerning his death or the names of surviving relatives were given in the message sent to M.A. Rutherford asking him to meet the body.

FRED ALWARD BURIED HERE

The body of Fred Alward was brought to Niles this afternoon from Chicago and was taken directly to Silver Brook cemetery where Rev. G.W. Simon, pastor of the Presbyterial[sic] church, conducted the committal ceremonies at the family lot.  Dennis Alward, of Lansing, and Frank Alward, of Albany, Ind., brothers of the deceased, was among those who met the body here.  Dennis Alward is secretary of the Michigan state senate and is also secretary of the Michigan State Republican state central committee.
