Funeral services for Mrs. Marcella Betts, 48, who died in Battle creek Monday morning, were conducted this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Rutherford funeral chapel. The Rev. A.R. Kuehn of the First Evangelical church officiated.  Mrs. Bett's death followed an illness extending over more than a year.  She leaves her husband, Edward Betts, Battle Creek, and two sisters, Mrs. William Myers, Niles, and Mrs. Mary Summers, Rock Island, Ill.  Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.

Brand, Julia

MRS. JULIA BRAND DIES

Mrs. Julia Brand, 37, died at 7 o'clock this morning at the family home, 1420 Hickory street. Her death followed a long illness. Mrs. Brand had lived in Niles since her marriage two years ago to lee Brand. Prior to her marriage she lived in Chicago.

Mrs. Brand was born in Dubuque, Ia., Jan. 12, 1897.  She leaves her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte McElvey, Chicago, and Mrs. Rose Kersch, Dubuque; three brothers, Clarance and Harry Primasing, St. Paul, Minn., and John Primasing, Milwaukee; also three stepchildren, Gerald, Seattle, Wash., and Raymond and Pearl, Niles.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Troost and Turner funeral home, the Rev. Dr. Guy W. Simon, officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Friends may call at the Troost and Turner funeral home to view the body at any time before the funeral hour.

BRAND FUNERAL TODAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Lee Brand, 1420 Hickory street, who died Wednesday, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Troost and Turner funeral home.  The pallbearers were Elmer K. Lepel, Emil Deutscher, Roe Brenner, E.H. Hulett, John Sissler and C.F. James. The Lady Moose organization conducted the services at Silverbrook cemetery.

MRS. BUCKLEY DIES

Mrs. Emma Buckley died this morning at her farm home 10 miles northwest of Niles. The body was brought to the Troost & Turner funeral home where arrangements for the funeral are to be made this afternoon.

WOMAN BORN HERE 90 YEARS AGO DIES

Mrs. Emma Buckley, Native of Niles, Passes at Farm Near Eau Claire

The death of Mrs. Emma Buckley at her farm home near Eau Claire early Thursday morning marks the passing of one of the oldest pioneers of this section.  Mrs. Buckley was 90 years old, and was born in Niles in 1844. She lived here until her marriage May 22, 1884 to Elisha Buckley, who died several years ago.

Mrs. Buckley has lived for 50 years in the farm home where she died.  Her stepson, Arthur, is in charge of the farm. She had been in ill health in recent years, bu the immediate cause of her death was due to an injury to her hip received in a fall two years ago and from which she never recovered.

She leaves a son, Willis, South Bend, and a stepson, Arthur, Eau Claire; and three daughters, Mrs. Mary DeGier, Morley, Mich.; Mrs. Cora Bevan, South Bend, and Mrs. Imogene Gray, Eau Claire.

Funeral services will be held at the Troost and Turner funeral chapel Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Dr. Guy W. Simon officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

RELATIVES ARE PALLBEARERS

Relatives of Mrs. Emma Buckley, 90, who died Thursday at her farm home near Eau Claire, were to act as pallbearers at the funeral services this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Troost and Turner funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Guy W. Simon was to conduct the services and burial was to be in Silverbrook cemetery.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES

The body of Orville Conrade[sic], who died in Gold Beach, Ore., will be brought to the Price and Kiger funeral home. He was the son of A. Conrade, east of Niles. Funeral arrangements await arrival of the body here, which probably will be Monday.

CONRAD SERVICE FRIDAY

The body of Orville Conrad, who died Oct. 6 in Gold Beach, Ore., was brought to the Price and Kiger funeral home Wednesday.  Mr. Conrad leaves his mother, Mrs. S.A. Conrad and two brothers, Gordon and Otis, Niles. Services will be held from the Price and Kiger funeral home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, William Putnam of the South Niles community church officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

 

Davis, Harold James

Funeral rites for Harold James Davis, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Davis, 1621 North Fifth street, who died at his home at 8 o'clcok Sunday morning, were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Rutherford funeral home with the Rev. Guy W. Simon officiating.

William Brown, Howard Davis, Lloyd Jeroch, Harold Jaroch, Burnell Long and Archie Sorenson acted as pallbearers.  Burial was made in Silverbrook cemetery.

GLEASON INFANT DIES

Roger, the two months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gleason, 1629 Huron street, died early this morning at the family home. The body was taken to the Troost and Turner funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the home, 1629 Huron street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.  The Rev. Theo Eisen, pastor of St. John's Evangelical church, will officiate.

Copley, Nancy (Wilson)

Mrs. Nancy Copley, Ill for Month, Dies

Mrs. Nancy Copley, 48, colored, 32 Cass street, died at 5:40 o'clock Monday afternoon at Pawating hospital after about a month's illness. The deceased was born Dec. 7, 1885, in Cass county and has lived in Niles for number of years.

Besides her husband, Oscar Copley, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Walter Flint, Niles, Miss Hortense Copley, Three Rivers; Alene and Joyce, at home; three sons, Delbert, Chicago, Orman and Kenneth , at home; two brothers, Granville Wilson, Elkhart, Levi Wilson, Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Jones, Chicago, Mrs. Charley Copley, Cassopolis, and Mrs. Delbert Roberts, Vandalia.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Troost and Turner funeral home.
