Mrs. Ethel A. Rice, 78, of 1425 Terminal Road, died at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday in Pawating Hospital, where she had been a patient four days. She had been Ill three weeks.
Mrs. Rice was born Jan. 30, 1887, in Bertrand Township, and was a lifetime resident of the community. She was married here to Roy H. Rice, Nov. 13, 1907. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Robert L. Harvey, Ill., Tom S., Dayton, Ohio, and Harry L., Sunflower, Kan.; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Shute, Bethesda, Md., and Mrs. Paul Houseman, Niles; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the What-soever Class and Women’s Association of the church, and the Shakespeare Club. She was a life member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday in her church. The Rev. John P. MacLachlan, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Silverbrook Cemtery mausoleum.
Friends will be received at the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.
The family requests memorials contributions be made to the Cancer Fund or to the memorial fund of the First Presbyterian Church.
