Mrs. Kate Boardman Dies From Pneumonia
BUCHANAN, Jan. 27—Mrs. Kate Sherrill Boardman, 68, wife of D.L. Boardman, a Buchanan pioneer merchant, died at 3 o'clock this morning following a few days' illness from pneumonia. Mrs. Boardman contracted a cold which beginning last Sunday and became seriously ill shortly after.
The deceased was born Nov. 25, 1865 in Three Oaks and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sherrill, pioneers there. She was married to Mr. Boardman on Oct. 2, 1889, in Niles where she taught music in the Niles high school. She was a Three Oaks high school graduate and completed her musical education at the Michigan State Normal school at Ypsilanti and Kalamazoo college.
Mrs. Boardman was a prominent member of the Niles Garden club and the Thirty Literary club of Buchanan. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church here.
She is survived by five nephews and one niece, Mrs. Ruth Ellsworth, Grand Rapids, whom she raised to womanhood.
