Member of Niles Pioneer Family to be Buried Here

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Landon, former Niles resident and widow of Worth Landon, former Niles city clerk, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Trinity Episcopal church. The Rev. Harry L. Nicholson will officiate.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Mrs. Landon died Saturday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Wharton, Nashville, Tenn.  She was 85 years old.

An accomplished musician, Mrs. Landon was prominent in Niles music circles and served as organist in the Trinity Church for a number of years.  She moved to Nashville following the death of her husband about 30 years ago.

Surviving besides her daughter is one son, Frank H. Landon, Riverside, Ill., another son, Allen  G., died a number of years ago in Chicago.  Mrs. Landon was an aunt of Mrs. Andrew Wiesberg and Mrs. J.D. Elder, who live near Dowagiac.

A granddaughter, Mrs. Havermyer, Chicago, was in Niles Saturday to make arrangements for the funeral service.

The body will lie in state in Trinity church from 1:30 until 2:15 o'clock Tuesday.

Niles News in Brief: LANDON RITES HELD
