Ferne E. Helmick, 78, 728 Broadway, Apt. 11,, Niles, died at her home Friday at 8 a.m. after a brief illness.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and was a retired practical nurse.
She was born June 6, 1909 in Jackson and had lived here since July, coming from Union City.
On January 30, 1943 in Bexar County, Texas she married Dennis E. Helmick. He died in 1984.
Surviving are: a son, Arthur P. Coleman of Niles; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles, the Rev. Lloyd A. Phillips will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by the Halbritter Funeral Home.
