Melvin B. Herrick, 68, of 220 Fort street, treasurer and a director of the Michigan Mushroom Company here, died at 5:10 p.m. Friday at Pawating Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 4. He had been ill seven months.
Herrick was born Oct. 17, 1885, in Crested Butte, Colo., and came to Niles in 1935 from Denver, Colo. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and Knights Templar here, and had served as treasurer of Gunnison County, Colo. He was married June 17, 1917, in Paonia, Colo., to Mary Hadley who survives.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church with the pastor, the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kiger Funeral Home here.
