Dorothy A. Burner, 72, 1409 Sioux Trail, Niles, died Sunday at 10:35 p.m. at Pawating Hospital in Niles following a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 30, 1915, in Lowell, Mass., and lived here since 1979, coming from Dearborn. She married Charles Burner Aug. 4, 1935, in Detroit. He died May 19, 1962.

Survivors include: a daughter, Marie Howkins of Dearborn; a son, Alfred of Niles; and six grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, where Rev. Arnold Schaap will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth Ann Butt

MRS. RUTH BUTT STRICKEN TODAY

Mrs. Ruth Ann Butt, 40, died this morning at 2:45 in her home near Barron lake, after an illness of eight months.

A resident of the Niles community since 1938, when the family moved here from South Bend, Mrs. Butt was born April 25, 1902 in Anderson, Ind.

Surviving with her husband, Phillip Butt, are her father, Lemuel Buck, Denver, Ind.; two sons, Phillip Leroy, who is serving with the navy, and Max Wilbur Butt, at home; two brothers, Cecil and Robert Buck, Denver, Ind., and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Young, South Bend, and Miss Marian Buck, Anderson, Ind.

Friends may call at the Pifer funeral home where services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Blanche D. Byrd
April 28, 1895-Feb. 6, 1990

Services for Blanche D. Byrd, 94, of 1211 State Line Road, Niles, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Steven L. Schuneman.

Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

Mrs. Byrd was born April 28, 1895, in Aberdeen Miss., and came to Niles in 1897.

She was active in the Trinity Episcopal Church and the St. Agnes Guild of the church, Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Pythian Sisters. She was a 1913 graduate of Niles High School and a graduate of Ferris State College.

She was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Mrs. Byrd died Tuesday at 6:30 p.m at Woodfield Manor, Niles, following an extended illness.

Several cousins survive.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.

Grace Ullery Cady

Word has been received in Niles that Mrs. Grace Ullrey[sic] Cady, 83, former Niles area resident, died Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L.H. Fairchild, in Lincoln, Neb.

Mrs. Cady was born north of Niles Oct. 14, 1875, the daughter of John and Catherine Ullrey. She married James Edward Cady who preceded her in death. She had gone from Ludington to Lincoln recently to live with her daughter.

Surviving beside the daughter, Mrs. Fairchild, are three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Ulley[sic] of Cable Lake, Dowagiac, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Montgomery, Maywood, Ill.

Memorial services will be held at the Kiger-Halbritter Funeral Home at a time to be announced following cremation at Lincoln.  Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Cady Rites Set

Memorial services for Mrs. Grace Ullery Cady, a former Niles area resident who died Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L.H. Fairchild, of Lincoln, Neb., will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in the Kiger-Halbritter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Carl Cameron

Memorial Services

Arrangements are being made for memorial services for Carl Cameron, 70, former Niles resident and Kawneer Co., official who died Monday night at Pharr, Tex.  He had suffered a heart attack on Dec. 28. cremation will take place in Texas and the remains will be returned here.

Mr. Cameron, who was well known, in both Niles and Berrien Springs, had served as superintendent of the Kawneer plant in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, as sales manager of the Kawneer Store Front, manager of the Berkley Calif., plant and manager of the Niles plant.

He was born Sept. 22, 1888, in Jenesee, Idaho, and also had served as Niles city clerk. His father had been an implement dealer in Niles.

A veteran of World War I with two years service overseas in France on detached service with the 26th Engineers, Mr. Cameron came to work for Kawneer in January, 1924, and retired in June 1945. He was a member of the Kawneer 25-Year Club and of the Niles American Legion Post.

Following his discharge from military service, he was married to Ethel Higgins, of Kansas, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Colin Kennedy, of St. Joseph, and Mrs. Thelma Krause, of Berrien Springs; three grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Maude Cameron, of South Bend.

Memorial rites have been set for 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Pifer Funeral Home for Carl Cameron, 70, former Niles resident and Kawneer Co. official who died Feb 16, at Pharr, Tex.  The Rev. John P. MacLachlan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, of which he had been a member, will officiate. He also had been a life member of the Niles Elks Lodge and a member of the Paw Paw Post of the Disabled American Veterans.

John W. Campbell

NILES--John W. Campbell, 62, of 312 Elm St., died at 8:05 a.m. today at the Ridgedale Nursing Home in South Bend, following an extended illness.

A retired employee of the National Standard Co., Mr. Campbell was born Nov. 10, 1914, in Trousdale, Tenn., and had lived here since 1917, coming from Tennessee.

Survivors include a brother, G. Wallace Campbell of Niles.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Halbritter Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe R. Johnson of the First Church of Christian-Christian officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
