EXTRA! EXTRA!

BOY DROWNS

William Andress, aged 11, was pulled unconscious and apparently dead from the swimming pool at the P.B. Friday home on Buchanan road, one-half mile west of the city limits, at 3 o'clock this afternoon.

After resuscitation efforts, in which a police pulmotor was used, had failed, the body was taken to Pawating hospital where efforts to revive the boy were continued under direction of Dr. L.M. Rutz.

The boy was pulled from the pool by Homer Cooper, yardman at the Friday home, who had shortly before ordered a group of boys away from the pool. Among the group was the younger brother of the Andress boy, Norman.

The drowned boy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey A. Andress, 703 Grant street.

Mr. and Mrs. Friday have appealed to police several times recently to keep boys from trespassing on their home grounds and swimming in the pool.

RITES MONDAY FOR DROWNING VICTIM

Andress Boy One of Group That Swam in Private Pool Despite Warnings.

The funeral services for William Andress, 11, who was drowned Friday afternoon while swimming in the private pool at the P.B. Friday addition, will be held at 2 o'clock, Monday afternoon at the Troost and Turner funeral home.

The pool in which young Andress was swimming is located in the rear of the P.B. Friday estate and is jointly owned by R.D. King, Dr. E. W. Tonkin and P.B. Friday. The pool is strictly private and in the past Mrs. Friday has called on the police in an effort to keep youngsters from trespassing on the property.

This was the case in yesterday's mishap. The caretakers, Homer Cooper and Mr. Brawley had ordered the boys to leave the premises, the boys left for a short time and then returned.

Upon questioning Norman Andress the caretakers learned that William had been seized with cramps and was still in the pool.  Mr. Cooper and Mr. Brawley hunted until they found the boy's body and rushed it to the Pawating hospital. Dr. L.M. Rutz worked over the body using a pulmoter but was unable to revive the lad.

The deceased is survived by his father Harvey Andress, his step-mother and two brothers, Norman and Basil, besides a step-brother Richard Meyers. The funeral services will be conducted by John Keracher, Chicago.  Interment will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
