Rolland J. Fulkerth, 82 of 2620 S. 21st St. was pronounced dead on arrival at Pawating Hospital at 8:41 a.m. Thursday.

He was born May 3, 1893, in Berrien Springs, and lived in this area all his life. He was a retired employe of French Paper Co. and the New York Central Railroad.

Mr. Fulkerth is survived by three stepsons, Charles Harwood of Eloy, Ariz., John Harwood of Niles, Carl Harwood of Niles; a stepdaughter Alice Harwood of Niles; a brother, Lynes T Fulkerth of Niles; four sisters, Mrs. Maude Davis, Mrs. Bessie Hart and Mrs. Ellen Weich, all of Niles, and Mrs. Pauline Smith of Oregon, and 12 step-grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Fulkerth will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold E. Asire of Emmanuel Baptist Bible Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Silverbrook cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

 

Fulkerth, Evelyn Jane (Rutherford)

Evelyn Jane (Rutherford) Fulkerth, 78, of Westwood of Niles, died Monday June 28, 2004, in the nursing home. He was born March 11, 1926. Survivors include her husband, Lynes T.; and four daughters, Debra Fulkerth of Des Moines, Iowa, Lyniece Adamczak of Battle Creek, Mich., and Bertha Tharp and Doris Carter, both of Niles. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Pifer-Smith Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours before services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha M. Fulkerth, 92, will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in her home at 2980 Detroit Road, Niles. Conducting the services will be the Rev. Ralph Pletcher of coulters chapel. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery. Prior to the services friends may call at her home.

Mrs. Fulkerth died yesterday at 8:30 p.m. April 16, 1961, in the Cass county Hospital after an illness of two months. The final month of her life was spent in the hospital.

She was the wife of William H. Fulkerth, who died on Jan. 6, 1949 and a life long resident of Berrien County. She was born on Nov. 30, 1867 in Berrien Springs.  Mrs. Fulkerth is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lena Bottset, Mishawaka, Ind.; a brother, Arthur Gorham, Berrien Springs; eight children 34 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.Five daughters are included the eight surviving children. They are Mrs. Cecil Hart, Niles, Mrs. William Malone, Niles Sumnerville, Mrs. Hal Davis , Niles, Mrs. William Malone, Niles and Mrs. Pauline Smith, Dowagiac; Her three sons are Roland J. Fulkerth, William H. Fulkerth and Lynes T. Fulkerth , all of Niles.

 

Frucci, D. Jule

Jule Frucci
July 14, 1914-Nov. 21, 1996

D. Jule Frucci, 82, of 1615 N. 5th St., Niles, Mich., died at 12:28 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, at Lakeland Medical Center, Niles. Death was unexpected, but of natural causes.

She was born July 14, 1914, in Niles, to Otto Glenn and Mable Lorraine Pethick Heslet, and was a lifelong resident of Niles, living many years on Inner Drive.

Mrs. Frucci was a former employee of the Niles Board of Public Works and the Niles Community Library where she was well known for her storytelling at Storyhour.

She was a member of the Niles Literary Club, the Pawating Hospital Auxiliary, was involved with the Red Cross Bloodmobile, worked with Meals On Wheels and attended activities of the Kawneer 25-Year Club.

On April 10, 1937, in Niles, she married Anthony E. Frucci who preceded her in death on July 25, 1982. Surviving family includes her daughters, Dr. Jill Ellen Frucci of Lynn, Mass. and Cathy J. Hickerson of Niles.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles where interment will take place. The Reverend Doctor Ronald H. Wakeman of First Presbyterian Church in Niles will officiate.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Memorial contributions may be made to Pets Alive or the Niles Community Library.

Frucci, Anthony

Anthony Frucci
February 21, 1912-February 13, 1994

Anthony Frucci, 81, of 1310 Cass St., a former Niles Township fire chief, died at 12:01 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 13, 1994), in Pawating Hospital. Mr. Frucci was born Feb. 21, 1912. On Aug. 25, 1934, he married Nellie Eckler. She survives with four daughters, Anita Rogers of Elkhart, Mary Lou McCormick of Winston Salem, N.C., Karen Teresa Wise of Niles and Phillis Kay Koenigshof of Alapaha, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Bruno and Johnny, both of Niles, and Victor of Bradenton, Fla.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Pifer-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Frizzell, Jack B.

Jack B. Frizzell, 44, of Palmetto, Fla., formerly of Niles, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, in Palmetto of natural causes.  He was born, March 3, 1961. Survivors include two daughters, Ashley Frizzell of South Bend and Hayley Frizzell of Niles; his mother, Jean Frizzell of Palmetto; two sisters, Teresa Veach of Niles and Laury Frizzell of Cape Coral, Fla.; and a brother, Edward Frizzell of Caledonia, Mich. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Sept. 29 at Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at 11 a.m. in Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Niles.  Mansion Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Ellenton, Fla., is handling arrangements.

Frick, Doris (Mitchell)

Doris Frick

Doris (Mitchell) Frick, 95, of West 48th Street, Fremont, Mich., formerly of Niles, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in the Transitional Health Center.

Doris was born Oct. 20, 1908, in Racine, Minn., to the late Almond and Edna (Young) Mitchell. In 1941 she married Herbert Frick in South Bend, Ind. They were married for 38 years before Herbert passed away on April 12, 1979.

Surviving Doris are her son, David (Rexene) Frick of Grant, Mich.; three grandchildren, Bethann Frick of Niles, Terry (Holly) Frick of Niles and David (Stacy) Frick of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and four great-grandchildren.

Doris enjoyed reading, cooking and sewing, and was also a member of Huntly Baptist Church when she lived in Niles.

Memorials may be made to The Huntly Baptist Church, 1139 Huntly Road, Niles, MI 49120.

Services will be today, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. in Brown~Pifer Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St., Niles, MI 49120, and with interment to follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown~Pifer Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
