Carl E. Hemphill, 67, of 110 Elm, died at 4 p.m.. Friday in Pawating Hospital. He had been in poor health for some time.
Hemphill was born Oct. 6, 1887, in Belle Center, O., and came here in 1922 from Kenton, O. He was last employed at the Indiana Lumber Company in South Bend, and was secretary-treasurer of the Carpenters Union of South Bend, Local 1481. His wife preceded him in death.
Surviving are; his mother, Mrs. Laura Taylor, of Lima, Ohio; four daugthers, Mrs. Wallace Campbell, Mrs. Lincoln Gessinger and Mrs. {illegible] and Paula, at home; four sons, Gerald, Richard and Clayton, of Niles, and Ronald, at home; 19 grandchildren, and four brothers, Harry, of Niles, and Guy, Floyd and Roy, all of Lima.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home here with the Rev. John Kinner, pastor of the First Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
