Mrs. Adah E. Zabel, 553 Broadway, prominent member of church and civic organizations, died at 2:30 a.m. today at Pawating Hospital following an illness of two days.

Mrs. Zabel was the wife of Walter J. Zabel, who retired in 1957 from his post as Niles Senior High School principal.

Mrs. Zabel was born in Aledo, Ill., and was married Aug. 15, 1922, in Monmouth, Ill. She came to Niles from there in 1921, after receiving her master's degree in English from the University . . .[illegible] .

She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert, Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Dr. Jane Waxman, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Milligan, Monmouth, and nine grandchildren.

[Illegible] . .the Niles public school system for one year, during 1921-1922. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Women's Association and the Good Fellowship club.

She was the Evangelism secretary-chairman of the Southern Presbyterial society of Michigan, a member of the American Association of University Women, the Ladies' Reading Club, the Lioness Club, and a honorary member of the Faculty Wives.

Funeral arrangement [sic] are being completed by the Kiger Funeral Home, where friends are being received.

ZABEL RITES

Funeral services for Mrs. Adah E. Zabel, 533 Broadway, who died Monday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John P. MacLachlan, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mrs. Zabel was a prominent member of church and civic organizations and was the wife of Walter J. Zabe, [sic] retired Niles Senior High School principal.
