GEORGE SCHRUMPF, RAILROADER, DIES
George Wilhelm Schrumpf, 70, life-long resident of Niles, died this morning at 9:15 in his home at 1120 Lake street.
Schrumpf, foreman of a Michigan Central railroad crew, was born here June 12, 1872. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Engineers and of the Pioneers association.
His widow, the former Frances Kaiser to whom he was married in Niles Nov. 18, 1896, survives with two children, Mrs. Milllie E. Bremer and Lawrence Schrumpf, both of Niles.
Rites Thursday
He also leaves three brothers, Henry and Arthur Schrumpf, Niles, and Louis Schrumpf, Edwardsburg; two sisters, Mrs. E.H. Zimmerman, Niles and Mrs. Ora Fidler, Edwardsburg, and two grandsons, William Bremer and Jon L. Schrumpf, Niles.
The body will be taken from the Price and Kiger funeral home to the family home where friends may call Wednesday and Thursday morning. The funeral is set for Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in St. John's Evangelical church. The Rev. Theo Eisen wil officiate, with burial in Silverbrook cemetery.
