NILES--Mrs. Carrie Platt, 90, of Santa Fe, N.M., died Sunday morning in St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe after a brief illness.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Whatsoever Class, the Golden Age Club and was an honorary member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Platt lived in Niles from 1922 until moving to Santa Fe three years ago. She and her husband owned and operated Platt's Grocery Store at Ninth and Main Sts.
On July 23, 1903, in Michigan City, she married Henry E. Platt. he died Feb. 27, 1951. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J.H. (Louise) Burttram of Santa Fe, and three grandchilden.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Halbritter Funeral Home with the Rev. John R. Wyngarden officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
