NILES--Mrs. Genevieve Poston, 82, of 1221 N. Ninth St., died at 10:14 p.m. Sunday in Pawating Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a member of Miriam Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Franklin AME Church, where she was a former Sunday School superintendent, steward and stewardess and president of the Sewing Circle. She also was a member of Our Day Together Club, Interstate Club and the Jolly Travelers, all of South Bend.
Born March 19, 1893, in Sabina, Ohio, she lived in Niles 58 years, coming from Springfield, Ohio. On Feb. 21, 1942, in South Bend, she married George F. Poston. He died in 1960.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Louise Cobb of Niles and Mrs. Elizabeth Guinn of South Bend, and a step-son, James Allan Pritchett of Springfield, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Franklin AME Church with the Rev. Donald Folden and the Rev. C.E. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
