Hilton Knight, 82, of 247 Marks St., died Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. in the Berrrien General Hospital, Berrien Center, following a 15 -month illness.
Retiring in 1946 as a conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad, Mr. Knight was born in North Sidney, Cape Bretton Islands, April 14, 1885.
He moved here from Maywood, Ill., 12 years ago.
In addition to his wife, Anna, he is survived by two sons, Blowers of Lisile, Ill., and Robert of LaGrange, Ill.,; a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Phillips of Niles; two step-sons, Willard Gates of Pell Lake, Wisc., and Ben Gates of McHenry, Ill.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Gretchen Strang of Evanston, Ill.; two brothers, Percy and Goodwin, both of Chicago; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m., in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. Leonard Putnam of the EUB Church officiating.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends are being received at the funeral home.
