Jessie S. Hill, 71, 1516 Ontario St., died at 3 a.m. Wednesday while en route to Pawating Hospital.
He was born Oct. 5, 1889, in Darke County, Ohio. He had lived most of his lifetime in the Niles area. Mr. Hill was retired in 1954 as a Studebaker employe, after 31 years of service. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; three daughters: Mrs. Dorothy Johnson, 305 Bertrand Rd., Mrs. Richard Howard, Edwardsburg, and Mrs. John Johnson, South Bend; three sons: T-Sgt. Phillip Hill, Amarillo, Tex., Airman 1C Roland Hill, Thule Air Base, Greenland, and Albert Hill Hurlbutt, Buchanan; a sister, Mrs. Frank Eckenrod, Florida; 30 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Kiger-Halbritter funeral Home, where funeral services will be held but are incomplete. The Rev. Edward Schantz, pastor of the First Church of Christ (Christian), will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
