Candy Firm Founder Dies
James T. Patterson, 71, of 330 N. Lincoln Av., well known businessman here for many years and founder of the Paris Candy Co., of Niles, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday in Pawating Hospital where he had been a patient for 12 days. He had been in failing health for several months.
Mr. Patterson was born March 25, 1890, and had lived in Niles for the past 52 years, coming here from Lansing. He was a professional confectioner.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the following Masonic orders--St. Joseph Valley Lodge, No. 4, F. and A.M., York and Scottish Rites, the Chapter Council, Consistory and Commandry, and the Shrine Club.
Surviving are: his widow, Josephine; two children, Mrs. Robert Richards, Dayton, Ohio, and Theodore J. Patterson, 336 N. Lincoln Ave.; nine grandchildren, and a brother, Pendel Patterson, Bay City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Episcopal Church with the rector, the Rev. John G. Carlton, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery with full Masonic rites at the graveside.
