William Banks Shoop, 83, 519 Grant St., died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday in the home of his son, Homer I. Shoop, Berrien Springs.

He was morn[sic] March 27, 1878, in Dauphin County, Pa., and moved to Niles at the age of three. He retired in 1951 as superintendant of Michigan Wire Goods after 54 years of service. Mr. Shoop was a member of the Niles Elks Lodge and the South Bend Eagles Lodge. His wife, Grace, died Oct. 29, 1944.

Surviving besides his son, Homer, is another son, Ralph B. Shoop, 1110 N. 6th St.; four grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Long, 519 Grant St., and Mrs. Frank D. Jewell, 320 Fulkerson Rd.

Friends may call at the Kiger-Halbritter Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday by Rev. John Guerney, pastor of Edwardsburg and Smith Chapel Methodist Churches. Burial will be in Silverbook Cemetery.
