NILES--John E. Gronenberg, 70, o f422 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton, Ind., a former Niles resident, died at 6:50 p.m. Thursday in Passavant Memorial Hospital, Chicago, after a brief Illness.
A retired importer of Scandinavian imports, Mr. Gronenberg was born March 31, 1900, in Odense, Denmark, and had lived in Chesterton since 1923. On May 31, 1935, in Chicago, he married the former Frances Ballard, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Robert Gutmann of Mt. Prospect,Ill. and three grandchildren.
Funeral services are incomplete at the Halbritter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Memorial services will be held on a date yet to be announced in the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago.
