John Lamson Perkins, 68, of 27 North 13th Street, retired employe of the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, died at 6 p.m. Thursday on arrival at Pawating Hospital. He had been in poor health since last January.
Mr. Perkins, a former trustee of the First Presbyterian Church here, was born March 3, 1889, in Boston, Mass., and came to Niles 27 years ago. He also was a member of the Niles Amateur Movie Club, St. Joseph Valley Lodge, F. and A.M., Knights Templar, the Masonic Council and Chapter and the Knights of the York Cross of Honor. Surviving are: his wife, Winifred; a son, John B. Perkins, of Niles; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Nelson, of Mishawaka, Ind., two grandchildren, and a brother, Gilbert C. Perkins, of Des Moines, Ia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. John MacLachlan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home.
