MRS. H.E. PRICE STRICKEN AFTER 2 YEARS' ILLNESS

Prominent Church, Civic and Club Worker Dies; Member of Many Community Organizations

Niles lost one of its most active and earnest workers for civic and community welfare, the Methodist church one of its most willing aides in the death of Mrs. H.E. Price late Thursday night.

Her family, close friends and club associates of half a century were recalling today the many activities and accomplishments of the woman who for years had given generously of her time to help the poor and to share the responsibility in club and community projects.

Mrs. Price's death ended an illness of more than two years. She became seriously ill about six months ago.  Her funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the First Methodist church, of which she was a member. The Rev. T.O. Lee will officiate.

Active Church Worker

She was affiliated with several organizations in the Methodist church, among them the Ladies' Aid society in which she held the presidency for several years; the Women's Foreign Missionary society, and the Women's Bible class.

For  more than 40 years she was a member of the Ladies' Charity society, an organization of a small group of women, who had worked quietly but effectively for nearly a half-century to relieve distress and help the needy.

In club circles she was a member of the Monday Reading club and of the Niles Musical club. She was president of the Progressive League several years ago. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past worthy  matron of that organization.

Lived Here 60 Years

Older residents were recalling today her social activities in earlier years, when the Price home was one of the hospitable gathering places of their circle of friends.

One of the intimate groups that survived through many years continued their New Year's reunions until a few years ago. The circle was made up of Mr. and Mrs. Price, Mr. and Mrs.  E.B. Storms, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Harrah, Mr.and Mrs. R.C. Atkinson and Dr. and Mrs. A.E. Trefrey, Kalamazoo.

Mrs. Price was born in Chelsea 74 years ago and moved to Niles from Wayne, Mich., in 1879. She was married to Mr. Price in Niles, Feb. 15, 1893.

Beside Mr. Price, she leaves one son, Gorton, of Huntington Woods, Detroit suburb; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Leich, Niles, and two grandchildren, Charlotte Jane and Robert E. Price, Huntington Woods.
