John P. Bort, 29, Buchanan Store Employe, Dies
John P. Bort, 29, a brother of Grant Bort, Niles mail carrier, died at 2 o’clock this morning at his home about three miles west of Niles on the Niles-Buchanan Road. Mr. Bort had been ill since Friday with Infantile paralysis.
Born in St. Joseph May 11, 1907, Mr. Bort has lived in this vicinity his entire life. On the seventeenth of this month he was married to Miss Virginia Hartline in South Bend. He was employed as assistant manager in the Kroger store in Buchanan.
Besides his wife and brother he is survived by his father, Ray Bort, Niles. His mother died in April of this year.
Private funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hartline, Mrs. Bort’s parents. Services will be conducted by the Rev. T.O. Lee and burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Private funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon for John P. Bort, 29, who died Monday morning at his home three miles west of Niles on the Niles-Buchanan road. The services were conducted at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Hartline, by the Rev. To.O. Lee. Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.
