Private graveside services for Charles Franklin Hydorn, 79, of 222 Ontario, Niles, are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Hydorn died at 8:05 a.m. Monday at Silverbrook Manor of Niles.

Hydorn was born May 17, 1911, in Adamsville, and had been a lifelong resident of Niles.

Hydorn was a farmer.

On Dec. 29, 1940, in Niles, he married Betty Heide, who survives him.

Also surviving are a son, Jerry Hydorn of Shipshewana, Ind.; two daughters, Bonnie Lenardson of Berrien Springs and Joanne Current of Coloma; and six grandchildren.

There are no visitations scheduled. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home, 2618 W. John Beers Road, Stevensvillle.

 

Jacobs, Walter B.

Funeral services for Walter B. Jacobs, 75, of 19791 Palisade Ave., South Bend, Ind., are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pifer-Smith Funeral Home in Niles by the Rev. Russell Ross of the First Church of Christ-Christian in Niles.

Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles where graveside military committal rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 624 of Roseland, Ind., and Post 360 of Mishawaka, Ind.

Jacobs died at 6:33 p.m. at home following a two-week illness.

Jacobs was born Jan. 31, 1915, in South Bend and was a lifetime resident of the area.  He retired in 1978 from the South Bend Range Corp., where he had been employed as a drill press operator. He was a World War II army veteran, and was affiliated with the First Church of Christ-Christian.

On Jan. 30, 1971, in South Bend, he married Imogene Bollman, who survives him.

Also surviving are a step-daughter, Helen Haynes of South Bend; four step-sons, Fred Bollman, Steve Saros and Paul Saros, all of South Bend, and Dwight Bollman of Milton, Ill.; two sisters, Mercedes Konschur and Anna May Baker, both of South Bend; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

 

 

 

Jaroch, Lottie M.

Funeral services for Lottie M. Jaroch, 81, of 1803 N. Fifth St., Niles, are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Halbritter Funeral Home of Niles by the Rev. Arnold O. Schaap of Edwardsburg.

Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Mrs. Jaroch died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday at Pawating Hospital of Niles following an extended illness.

Mrs. Jaroch was born Oct. 21, 1908 in Niles. She was a lifetime resident. Mrs. Jaroch was the retired owner of the Bait Shop.

On March 23, 1933, in Niles, she married John A. Jaroch, who survives her.

Also surviving are her daughter, Patricia J. Bunda of Niles; and granddaughter, Shannon Shepard.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Johnson, Herbert

Funeral services for Herbert Johnson, 1222 N. 10th St., will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home.  Mr. Johnson, 96, died Saturday morning at the Dor-A-Lin Nursing Home after an illness of several years.

He is survived by his nephew, Edgar Holland of Niles.  Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 4, 1871 in Portsmouth, Ohio.  He came here in 1960 from Chicago.  Mr. Johnson was a retired employe of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

The Rev. R.B. Nabors, pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

Lehrke, August F.

August F. Lehrke, 91, of Southfield, formerly of 1408 Oak St., died Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.., in Providence Hospital, Southfield, after a three-day illness.

A retiree of the real estate business, Mr. Lehrke was born in Germany, March 3, 1876. He moved to Niles from Buchanan in 1926.

He is survived by a niece of Detroit.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m., in the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home with the Rev. John S. Hoenstine of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.

Mrs. Delores R. Linton, 56, of 2288 North 5th St., died Tuesday at 6:15 a.m., in Caylor-Nickel Clinic, Bluffton, Ind., after being a patient there for 31 days.

Moving to Niles from South Bend 14 years ago, Mrs. Linton was born in Leon, W. Va., March 12, 1911.

In addition to her husband, Clair L., she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Miller of Alexandria, Va., three grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Paul Martin and Mrs. Clayton Spencer, both of Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Max Thibault of Delaware, Ohio; and Mrs. Louis Fife of Middleport, Ohio; and three brothers, William Abbott, Denver Abbott and Donald Abbott, all of Columbus.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m., in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Cunningham of the First Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m., today.

 

Lordan, Eugene M.

Funeral services for Eugene M. Lordan, 63, of 1718 Regent St., will be at 2 p.m., Monday in the Pifer Funeral home, with Lowell Jackson, pastor of the First Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Military committal will be conducted by American Legion Post 26.

Friends are being received after 7 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Mr. Lordan died about 8:30 p.m., Wednesday at his home. He was born Aug. 7, 1904, in Detroit and came here from South Bend in 1943.

He was a retired machinist for the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend and a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lordan is survived by his wife, Edith; a son, Michael E. of California; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Tallent, Jacksonville, Fla.; three step-children, Mrs. Jane Short, Miami, Fla., Jack Dennis, Simi, Calif.; Mrs. Jane Mathewes, Willoughby, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Risdon, Detroit; Mrs. Grace McMurris, Palmer Lake, Colo.; Blanche Lordan, Detroit; and a brother, Vincent, also of Detroit.
