Joe P. Humphreys, 41, of 4511 E. River Road, Buchanan, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999 in his home of natural cause. He was born April 17, 1958. Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Jo Humphreys of Niles; his parents, Linda and Joe Humphreys of Buchanan; a brother, Bill “Bart” of Buchanan. Services will be at 11 a.m Thursday in St. Paul’s Lutheran church. There will be no visitation. Hoven Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Michael Humphrey, 84, Resident of Niles 45 years, stricken,

Suffering from a lingering illness.

Michael Humphrey, a resident of Niles for 45 years, died Friday (Oct. 29, 1938) morning in the Berrien Center Hospital. He was 84 years old.

Mr. Humphrey entered the hospital Sunday when his condition became critical. He lived at 1233 South Fourteenth Street, Niles and prior to his illness had worked as a trucker.

Surviving is a nephew, William Humphrey, LaPorte.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon in the Price and Kiger Funeral Home with the Rev. A.R. Kuehn officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mabel Humphrey

Mabel Humphrey (Davis), died Sept. 13, 1978 in Niles. She was born Jan. 1, 1899, in Stark co, Ind.

She married Charles H. Humphrey. Survivors include son, Charles R. and Thomas H.; stepson, Zehania Davis; brother, Hanley Davis; and sister, Velma Lein.

Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery. Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan, is handling information

Humphrey, Lurena

Lurena Humphrey
June 1, 1868-Aug. 14, 1959

Lurena Humphrey, 91, of 1120 Merrifield Avenue, died at 2:05 a.m. today Aug. 14, 1959, today in her home. She had been in poor health for six months. She was born in Ohio June 1, 1868 and came here from Indiana 33 years ago. Her husband, Marshall, preceded her in death.

Surviving are four sons, Jess Larimer of Barron Lake, and J.C. Humphrey, Charles Humphrey and Harry Humphrey, all of Niles and a daughter, Mrs. William Griffin of Chicago; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. Theodore Laesch, Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Lugene C. Humphrey, 71, of 2677 Huntly Road, Niles, died Thursday (June 25, 1998), in Woodfield Manor. She was born Nov. 16, 1926. Survivors include her husband, Thomas H.; a daughter, Shana Schuyler of Ocala, Fla.; a son, Charles H. of Niles; two sisters, Floy Hull of Detroit and Geraldine Stover of Wisconsin; and a brother, Norman Williamson of Dowagiac. Services with be at 10 a.m. Monday in Halbritter funeral home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Humphrey, Harry R.

Harry R. Humphrey

Harry R. Humphrey, 66, of 1353 Oak Street, Niles, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend. He had been ill five months.

He was an employee of Joe Hayden Ford, Niles.

Born October 17, 1902 in Minot, North Dakota, he had lived in Niles since 1923.

On April 20, 1931 he married Evelyn L. McOmber, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Jerry R. Humphrey, U.S. Air Force, Eglin AFB, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. William (Barbara) Bauernfied, Niles; two brothers, J.C. Humphrey and Charles Humphrey of Niles; a half brother, Jesse Larimer, Placenta, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. William Griffin, Silver Lake, Wis., and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. The Rt. Rev. Msgr, John D. Slowey of St. Mary’s Catholic church of Niles will officiate.

Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. Friends may call at the Halbritter funeral Home after 7 p.m. tonight.

 

Humphrey, Evelyn L.

Evelyn Humphrey
May 4, 1914-Sept. 10, 1972

Mrs. Evelyn L. Humphrey, 58, of 1513 Orchard Lane, died at 4:25 a.m. Sunday Sept. 10, 1972, in Pawating Hospital after an illness of several months.

Born May 4, 1914, in Berrien County, Mrs. Humphrey had lived in this area all her life. On April 20, 1931, in LaPorte, Ind., she married Harry R. Humphrey, who died in August 1970. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mrs. Humphrey is survived by a son, Larry R., with the U.S. Air force in the Philippines; a daughter, Mrs. William S. (Barbara) Bauernfied of Niles; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Rhoades and Mrs. Mildred Wenzel, both of Niles and Mrs. Florence Seel of Eau Claire and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr, John D. Slowey officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Friends are calling at the Halbritter Funeral Home.
