Luth, Inalizette (Tellkamp)

Inalizette Luth

Inalizette Luth, 89, of Eagle River, Wis., formerly of Niles, Mich., died on Wednesday, March 10,  1999, at the Eagle River Health Care Center.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1909, in Grovertown, Ind., the daughter of John and Hermina (Goppert) Tellkamp. She was raised in Niles and was a graduate of Niles High School.

On May 31, 1942, she married Burt Luth in Niles. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernhard and Louis Tellkamp.

Mrs. Luth was employed as a registered nurse at the Clark Equipment Company. After retiring she volunteered as an esophageal speech teacher for the Berrien County Cancer Service.

She was a member of the Christian Science Church, the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 332, and St. Joseph's Holy Cross Nurse Alumni Association. She enjoyed painting, reading and music.

Mrs. Luth is survived by her son, James (Mary Louise) Luth of Titusville, Fla.; a daughter, Gretchen (Dennis) Passmore of Sugar Camp, Wis.; five grandchildren, Becky, David and Brian Luth, and Daniel and Jason Passmore; three great-grandchildren; and by nieces and nephews.

There will be no services for Mrs. Luth. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

The Carlson Funeral Home of Rhinelander, Wis., is in charge of arrangements.

Lunger, Shirley (Cooper)

Shirley M. Lunger

Shirley M. Lunger, 69, of 3887 North Mission Hills Road, Northbrook, Ill., died following a brief illness at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, in Highland Park Hospital, Highland Park, Ill.

She was a former resident of Niles, Mich., living at 702 Chippewa Trail before moving to Northbrook with her husband in 1982.

Mrs. Lunger was born on Dec. 14, 1929, in Niles, to Lynn R. and Mable (Feldkemp) Cooper, and was a 1947 graduate of Niles High School.

She was the owner and operator of the former What's That Shoppe, Ltd., which was located on South Eleventh Street in Niles.

Mrs. Lunger was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles. She loved quilting and visiting with her children and grandchildren.

On Sept. 10, 1949, in Niles, she married Charles W. Lunger, who survives. She and her husband had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Elkhart Lake, Wis.

Mrs. Lunger is also survived by her children, Deborah L. Lunger of Chicago, Ill., Charles G. and Gary L. Lunger, both of Carrollton, Texas, and Scott C. Lunger of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and by her sister, Ann Reum of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Wherley.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the First Presbyterian Church, Niles, with the Reverend Dr. Ronald H. Wakeman of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Halbritter Funeral Home.

Lunger, Charles W.

Charles W. Lunger
Nov. 28, 1927-Jan. 13, 2003

Charles W. "Charlie" Lunger, 75, of Granger, Ind., died of an extended illness at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2003,  in Hospice House of Saint Joseph County.

He was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Williamsport, Pa., to Charles L. and Mabel C. (Taylor) Lunger. In 1935 Mr. Lunger moved to this area and in 1982 he moved from Niles, Mich., to Northbrook, Ill. Then, in 2000, he moved to Granger.

Charlie graduated from Niles High School in 1945 and served during World War II as a pilot in the U.S. Naval Air Corps from 1945-1947. He attended Colgate University, and in 1951 received a degree from Western Michigan University. He then joined the Studebaker Corporation, rising to plant manager until 1964. From 1964 until his retirement in 1993, Mr. Lunger worked for Allied Products Corporation in the capacity of division president, senior vice president, executive vice president and finally, chief operating officer.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church (Niles). Additionally, he was a member of the Knollwood Country Club and was a former member of the Orchard Hills Country Club of Niles. He enjoyed golf and loved the university of Notre Dame. Mr. Lunger was a member of the Niles Elks Lodge and the Spartans.

On Sept. 10, 1949, in Niles, he married the former Shirley M. Cooper, who died Oct. 26, 1999.

Mr. Lunger is survived by his daughter, Deborah L. Lunger of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; three sons, Charles G. of Carrollton, Texas, Gary L. of Forney, Texas, and Scott C. of Minneapolis, Minn. He has seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley, Nicole, Caroline, Taylor, Kathleen and John. Also surviving are a cousin, Mable Marquise of Berrien Springs, Mich., and a sister-in-law, Ann (Jim) Reum of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in the First Presbyterian Church, Niles, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald H. Wakeman officiating. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, with a veteran's flag presentation by Commander John McLaughlin of American Legion Post 26, Niles, followed by traditional bagpiping music.

The family will receive friends in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Lunger may be made to either Hospice House of St. Joseph County, Ind., or to the American Cancer Society.

Lundy, Hannah Mae (Young)

Hannah Mae Lundy
February 20, 1921-June 19, 2005

Hannah Mae Lundy, 84, of Maple Lane, Niles, Michigan, died following a brief illness at 2:25 a.m. Sunday, June 19,  2005, in West Woods of Niles.

Mrs. Lundy was born February 20, 1921, in Niles, Michigan, to John and Irene (Gillette) Young. She was a lifetime resident of Niles. She carried her master's degree in education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Hannah retired after 25+ years of service with the Niles Community School Corporation. She also taught in the Galien School System.

Hannah attended the Church of Christ in Niles. She enjoyed traveling to destinations around the world and taking bus tours throughout the United States. Hannah was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired Personnel and was also a member of the Pokagon Seniors.

She is survived by her three sons, Richard T. Lundy of Niles, Leslie K. Lundy of Dowagiac, Michigan, and Mark A. Lundy of Niles; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Dawley of Petoskey, Michigan; and a brother, Herbert Young of Port Richey, Florida.

Mrs. Lundy was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Young, who died April 19, 2005.

The funeral service for Hannah Mae Lundy will be held in the Halbritter Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, with the Mr. David Thompson from the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ, Niles.

Low, Francis D.

Francis D. "Frank" Low
Oct. 19, 1914-Oct. 20, 1994

Services for Francis D. ''Frank'' Low, 80, of 730 Colony Court, Niles, who died at 3:54 p.m. Thursday  Oct. 20, 1994, in his home after an illness, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Halbritter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Foundation of First Presbyterian Church, Niles, or Hospice at Home.

Mr. Low retired from Simplicity Pattern as maintenance supervisor in 1978, after 32 years. He was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Culver, and was a lifelong area resident. On July 18, 1936, in Niles, he married Vivian A. Grafford. She survives, with two sons, Terry of Sunrise, Fla., and Gary of Niles; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Pawating Hospital Auxiliary and Simplicity Retirement Club.

Lolmaugh, Sara M.

Sara M. Lolmaugh, 83, 903 Mobile Blvd, Niles, died (March 13, 1984), at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday at Pawating Hospital after an extended illness.

She was member of St. Mark Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, American Legion Post 26 Auxiliary (past president), the Yankee Street Neighborhood club and the Grand Lodge of the Ladies Society of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen.

Born April 3, 1900, in Buffalo, NY, she lived her since 1921, coming from Michigan City, IN. On Jan. 15, 1944, in Niles, she married Chester Lolmaugh, who died in 1962.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Lolmaugh of Sevilla, Spain; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Caroline L.) Juroff of Niles; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Catholic church with Rev. Donald A. Wieber of that church officiating. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by the Halbritter Funeral Home.

 

Lolmaugh, Hazel (Souder)

Hazel Lolmaugh
May 3, 1899-July 3, 1943

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Lolmaugh, 43, who died Saturday, July 3, 1943, at 6 in her Pucker street home were conducted this afternoon at 1 in the Pifer Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster, pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial was in Silverbrook Cemetery.

A member of the American Legion auxiliary, the Navy Mothers club and the Christian church of Rochester, Ind. Mrs. Lolmaugh came her from South Bend 10 years ago. She had been in ill health the last five years.

She was a native of Culver, Ind., where she was born May 3, 1899.

Surviving with her husband, Chester Lolmaugh, are a son, Eugene Lolmaugh stationed at Norfolk, VA with the Navy; a daughter, Caroline at home and one grandchild.

She also leave nine brother and sisters, Mrs. S. L. Stevens and Donald Souder, both of South Bend, Forrest and Martin Souder, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. C. A. McCay, New Carlisle, Ind., Mrs. Ross Morris, North Liberty, Ind., Mrs. Louis Smith, Lydick, Ind.; Mrs. Clifford Holloway, Rochester, Ind., and John Souder, San Diego, Calif.
