Anarose Davis

Mrs. Howard C. Davis, 90, of Tomahawk Lane, Niles, Mich., died following an extended illness at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.
She was born on May 13, 1912, in Muskegon, Mich., and graduated from Muskegon High School. On Aug. 12, 1931, in Muskegon, she was married to Howard Cole Davis. At the request of Mr. Jerry Tyler, Howard and Anarose followed the relocation of Tyler Refrigeration from Muskegon to Niles in 1932. In 1947 Howard established Davis Products which was best known for the manufacture of compact kitchens. Davis Products had facilities in both Niles and Dowagiac, Mich., eventually closing in 1990. Anarose was an employee of the firm for many years.
She was very active in the growth of the Christian Church, helping establish Westminster Presbyterian Church and the former Church of the Savior, both of Niles, and was formerly a member of First Presbyterian Church, Niles. She was very interested in Christian education and had written portions of nationally distributed curriculum for Sunday School classes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Davis Sr., who died on April 15, 1990; by her parents; and by a sister, Evelyn (Mrs. Arthur) Mould, who died on June 30, 1995.
Surviving family includes their son, Howard C. (Lynette) Davis Jr. of Niles; granddaughter, Kerry Longwell (Mrs. Lane) Hamilton of Denver, Colo.; grandsons, Christopher (Kim) Davis of Green Bay, Wis., and Bill Davis of Castle Rock, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kathleen (Mrs. Andrew) McCormick of Niles; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Anarose Davis will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Leon Roggen of Niles officiating. Committal services will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
