Funeral services for Clarence W. Grieger, 66, of 1022 Regent St., will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Pifer Funeral Home. The Rev. Arlan Schlundt, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

He died unexpectedly Friday in Bradenton, Fla.

Mr. Grieger, a retired switchtender of the New York Central Railroad, was born Aug. 4, 1899, in Medaryville, Ind. He came to Niles from that city 45 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Alta; wo daughter, Mrs. Mike Balos, Niles, and Mrs. Cy Bennett, Benton Harbor; a son, Capt. Donald Grieger, serving with the U.S. Air Force at Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Otto, Valparaiso, Ind., and Alfred Medaryville; a sister, Mrs. Lena Walters, Also of Medaryville; and six grandchildren.

Friends are being received at the funeral home.

Flora A. Hamilton

Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Alice Hamilton, 82, of 820 Cass St., will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Theodis Hadley, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

She died at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Berrien General Hospital, Berrien center, following a four-month illness.

Mrs. Hamilton was born March 29, 1883 in Boligee, Ala. She came to Niles from Hollindale, Miss., in 1957. Her husband, Richard, died in 1951.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Jr., Hollindale, and James, Niles; three sisters, Sophia cook, Chaltongo, Tenn., and Mrs. Florence Braggs and Mrs. Anna Wells, both of Boligee; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends will be received at the Pifer Funeral Home, beginning Tuesday.

Norabelle Hart
March 29, 1888-Dec. 24, 1965

Funeral services for Mrs. Norabelle Hart, 77, Warren, formerly of Niles, will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pifer Funeral home. The Rev. Leon Manning, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

She died at 1:45 a.m. Friday in Mount Clemens General Hospital, following a six-week illness.

Mrs. Hart was born March 29, 1888 in Galien, and lived most of her lifetime in this area.

Surviving are two daughters, Ilah Schnoor, Margate, Fla., and Mrs. Iris Verg, Warren; five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Golden Age Club of Niles.

Friends are being received at the funeral home.

Rolf Krueger

Rolf Krueger, 69, of Pinehurst Lane, Niles, died at 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, at Lakeland Hospital-Niles, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 6, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, in Niles, with the Rev. Carl W. Bassett, of the church, officiating.  Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, in Niles. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.  on Sunday, March 5, at Halbritter Funeral Home, in Niles.

On April 7, 1936, in Hanover, Germany, he was born to Carl Krueger and Luise Hoyer and came to the United States in 1955, first to Chicago, then to Three Oaks. It was in 1966 that he moved from Three Oaks to Niles.

Earning a Master Machinist technical degree in Germany and continuing his education at Lake Michigan College, he was the former owner and operator of White Engineering on South 11th Street, in Niles.

During Peacetime, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Many years ago, with the Optimist Club of Niles, he helped organize the local Soapbox Derby.

Boating and fishing on Lake Michigan were two of many enjoyments, as well as hunting near his cabin in Lake City.

On July 7, 1957, he married the former Hildegard (Skale) Krueger, who survives. Together, they participated in the activities of DANK.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

In addition to his wife, Hildegard, surviving family includes, his daughter, Sonja (Chuck) Matheny, Granger, Ind.; two sons, Bernd (Tracey) Krueger, of Dowagiac and Kurt (Sharon) Krueger, of Niles; seven grandchildren, Jarimy, Nicole and Julian Springer and Rochelle, Jessica, Ryan and Andrea Krueger and his sister, Rosie Buenger, of Coloma.

Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.

Arrangements were by Halbritter Funeral Home, in Niles.

Hilda Malomboza

Funeral services for Hilda Malomboza, 30, of 703 N. Red Bud Trail, Apt. 1, Buchanan, are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pioneer Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church with the Rev. Jaspine Bilima, of Pioneer Memorial, officiating.

Burial will follow at Bertrand* Cemetery.

Malomboza died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday at Bronson Methodist Hospital following an extended illness.

Born May 27, 1962, in Blantyre, Malawi, she had been a resident of this area since1987, coming from Malawi, South Africa.

She was a college student at Lake Michigan College.

Survivors include her parents, Rodney and Sarapia Malomboza of Malawi; seven sisters, Doreen Malomboza of Buchanan, Flora Chitckwe of Niles, Mable Malomboza of South Africa, Mercy Nseula of Malawi, Gladys Whayo of Malawi, Gloria Kamanga of Botwana[sic], South Africa and two brothers, George Malomboza of Zambia, South Africa, and Mphatso Malomboza of Malawi, South Africa.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to Tuesday's services.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Halbritter Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hilda Malomboza Memorial Fund.

*Although the obituary says that burial was in Bertrand cemetery, the burial record is at Silverbrook.

Calista Elizabeth Minnear

Funeral services for Calista Elizabeth Minnear, 85, of 1018 Cedar St., Niles, are scheduled for 2 pm. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Donald G. Lester, of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Minnear died Monday morning at Pinebrook Place Nursing Home in Venice, Fla.

She was born April 22, 1908, in Niles.

On Oct. 21, 1939, in Niles, she married the late Earl F. Minnear, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1967.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Niles. She attended Milwaukee State Teacher's College. She was a member of the Niles Music Club and was an accomplished vocalist.

Survivors include a son, William Paul Minnear of Venice; four grandchildren: Jeni Flynn of Niles, Steve Janiszewski of South Bend, Louis Minnear of Venice and Anna Senen of Avon Park, Fla.; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Georgianna Starr of Akron, Ohio, Phena Wienke of Niles. A sister Danna Crawford, preceded  her in death on Oct. 13, 1951.

Friends may call from 2 pm. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home.
