Funeral services for Aline Sanders, 78, of 1206 Jerome St., Niles, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Niles, by the Rev. W.L. Daniel, pastor.

Burial will be at Silverbook Cemetery.

Mrs. Sanders died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday at Regency Place, South Bend, Ind.

She was born April 27, 1913, in Brownsville, Tenn., and lived in this area for more than 41 years, coming from LaGrange, Ill.

Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Niles.

In Aug. 1950, she married Mr. James Sanders.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Martin of Niles; a sister, Mrs. Sarah O'Leary of Niles; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the wake services from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Hoven Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service.

 

Sanders, Harry

Funeral services for Harry Sanders, 101, formerly of 416 N. 10th St., Niles, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.L. Daniel, pastor.

Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Sanders died at 2:45 p.m.  Tuesday at Silverbrook Manor, following an extended illness.

He was born April 3, 1890, in Ruston, La., and lived in Niles since 1956, coming from Chicago.

A retired employee of Monogram Laundry, Chicago, Mr. Sanders was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

His first wife, Mable Newton, preceded him in death in 1924 and his second wife, Bessie Sanders, preceded him in death in 1977.

Survivors include a step-son, J. Lambert Griswold of Chicago; a daughter, Miss Nolan Sanders of Los Angeles, Calif.; a step-daughter, Earle May Deadwyler of Chicago; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at Halbritter Funeral Home.

 

Treiber, Richard D.

Funeral services for Richard D. Treiber, 69, of 2810 W. Winn Road, Niles, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Halbritter Funeral Home by the Rev. Arnold O. Schaap of Edwardsburg.

Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Treiber died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind., following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Niles, and lived in this area all his life.

Mr. Treiber was a retired employee in maintenance for National Standard Co.

He married Doris Treiber, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons, Russell Treiber, Jacob Treiber, and Joseph Treiber, all of Niles; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Connell, and Mrs. Janet Hardesty, both of Mishawaka, Ind., and Mrs Jane Hardy of  Niles; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Halbritter Funeral Home.

 

Troost, Edward J.

Funeral services for Edward J. Troost, 85, of St. Jospeh, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Kerley Starks Funeral Home, by  Rev. Dirk Ficca, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be at Silverbrook Mausoleum.

Mr. Troost died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Memorial Medical Center, St. Joseph, Following a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 13, 1905, in Niles, and moved to St. Joseph in the early 1920's.

A retired salesman of Roti Motors, Benton Harbor, Mr. Troost was a member of St. Joseph Elks Club No. 541.

On July 20, 1927, in Niles, he married Thelma Cook, sho survives.

Other survivors include a son, Peter Troost of South Bend, Ind.; a daughter, Barbara Troost of St. Joseph; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at Kerley Starks Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabitis[sic] Association or the Fort Miami Historical Society.

 

 

Ehlenfeldt, Edward F.

NILES--Edward F. Ehlenfeldt, 85, of 1315 State Line Road, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after being ill for a month.

A retired employe of the Bendix corp., South Bend, Mr. Ehlenfeldt was born Dec. 19, 1883, in Elgin, Ill., and had lived here since 1915, coming from South Bend. he married the former Katherine M. Becker on Aug. 12, 1905, in St. Joseph. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 1965.  He was a member of the Bertrand Bible Church.

Mr. Ehlenfeldt is survived by a son, Erwin, Niles; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Wade, Niles and Mrs. Marguerite Hoffman, Wyandotte, Mich.; a brother, William and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Wilcox, both of Elgin; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m .Friday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert K. Kinney of the Bertrand Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Bertrand Bible Church.

Funeral services for Ervin E. Ehlenfeldt, 86, of 134 E. Bertrand Road, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Halbritter Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Johnson, of Bertrand Bible Church, officiating.

Burial will follow a[sic] Silverbrook Cemetery.

Ehlenfeldt died at 8:55 am. Sunday at Silverbrook Manor following an extended illness.

Born June 11, 1906, in South Bend, he was a lifetime area resident.

On Oct. 28, 1928, in Niles, he married the former Ruth E. King, who survives.

He was a retired bricklayer and received his 50-year gold card from the Bricklayer's Union 18 in South Bend, of which he was a member. He was also a member of Bertrand Bible Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Survivors include a foster son, Richard Beavo of Niles; and two sisters, Dorothy Wade of Galien and Marguerite Hoffman of Northport, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bertrand Bible Church.

 

Ehlenfeldt, Katherine M. (Becker)

Private funeral services for Mrs. Katherine M. Ehlenfeldt, 85, of 1315 State Line Road, were conducted today in the Halbritter-Swem Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold E. Asire, Pastor of the Bertrand Bible Church, officiated.  Burial was in Silverbook Cemetery.

She died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, where she had been a patient 25 days. She had been ill six years.

Mrs. Ehlenfeldt was born June 18, 1880, in Germany. She came to Niles from South Bend in 1915. She was married to Edward Ehlenfeldt Aug. 12, 1905, in St. Joseph. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Wade, Niles, and Mrs. Marguerite Hoffman, Wyandotte; a son, Ervin, Niles; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Bertrand Bible Church.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to her church.
