MRS. CLYDE SALLEE DIES

Word was received today by Miss Millie Sallee, 311 South Eleventh street, of the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Clyde Sallee of Kalamazoo.  Clyde Sallee and another brother, Charles, of Elkhart, were former Niles residents.  Burial will take place in Kalamazoo.

SET SALEE FUNERAL

Funeral services for Mrs. Clyde Salee, who died at Kalamazoo Monday will be held in Kalamazoo at 10 o'clock Thursday morning. The body will be brought here Thursday for burial in the Silverbrook cemetery.  Mrs. Salee is survived by her husband and a son. Other survivors include Charles Salee, a brother-in-law, of Elkhart, and Miss Millie Salee and Mrs. Mary Lamberton, sisters-in-law, 211 South Eleventh street, Niles, and a nephew, Roscoe Drew, Kalamazoo.

MRS ANNA SANFORD

Passed Away Saturday—Funeral Wednesday

Mrs. Anna B. Sanford, daughter of M.E. Demott and the late Mrs. Demott and sister of Messrs. Thomas and Harry Demott, Mrs. C.E. Fiske and Mrs. Geo. W. Rowlee, passed away Saturday, May 27, at the age of fifty-one years and one month.

The funeral services will be held at the home of her childhood in the bend of the river Wednesday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m. and the remains will be brought to Niles for burial in Silver Brook cemetery.

Rev. R.A. Wright of Niles Methodist church will conduct the funeral services.

Mrs. Sanford is survived by her husband and two children.

William Servis Dies; Funeral on Saturday

William Servis, about 76, well known Niles resident, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning at the county infirmery following several months of ill health.  Servis was for many years a member of the city street department.

There are no survivors. Servis never married and his mother's name in unknown.  His father was the late George Servis of New York city. The deceased came to Niles years ago from that state.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Rutherford funeral home with the Rev. Robert E. Meader, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in charge.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Mrs. George Sheldon Dies; Funeral Friday

Word was received Monday of the death at Morgan Park, Ill., of Mrs. George H. Sheldon of Rock Island, Ill.  Mrs. Sheldon, who was widely known here, was the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet Bacon of Niles.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. F.H. Crosley, Evanston, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Blanchard, and Mrs. Rusten Carrier, Morgan Park; a son, George Sheldon Jr., Mount Vernon, N.Y., and a nephew, Frederick Crosley Jr.

The deceased spent her childhood and young womanhood in Niles and had many friends in this district.

Funeral services will be in Morgan Park Friday morning.  A short service will be held here at 2 o'clock at Silverbrook cemetery where interment will be made.

SHELDON BURIAL HERE

The body of Mrs. George Sheldon, who died at Morgan Park, Ill., will be brought to Niles for burial in Silverbrook cemetery Friday afternoon.  Short services will be held at the grave at 2 o'clock.

Miss Oletha Stanard Succumbs at Hospital

Miss Oletha Stanard, 24, 1421 Sheffield avenue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stanard, died this morning at [illegible] o'clock in Pawating hospital. Funeral services will be held in the Rutherford Funeral home chapel Wednesday afternoon.  Arrangements are not complete.

Besides her parents, the deceased is survived by a sister, Mrs. Clarence Meltzel, Greenville, Mich.  Miss Stanard was born April 16, 1910 at Sturgis, Mich.

Funeral rites for Miss Oletha Stanard, 24, 1421 Sheffield avenue, who died at 3:45 o'clock Monday morning in Pawating hospital, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Rutherford Funeral home chapel. The Rev. W.H. Turner officiated. Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.

Note:  Cemetery record has name recorded as Standard; Michigan Death Record and obituaries have name spelled Stanard.  1920 and 1930 census records show Oletha in the household of Frank and Beulah Stanard.

Mrs. Emma Stevens Dies of Pneumonia

Mrs. Emma Augusta Stevens, living at the corner of Fort and Fifteenth streets, died at 11:25 o'clock Thursday night at Pawating hospital from an attack of pneumonia and complications.  Mrs. Stevens was born July 20, 1898 at Terre Coupe, Ind.

Survivors are the husband, Floyd, and four children, Marie, 11, Enid, 10, Floyd Jr., 9, and George, 5. She had no other relatives.

The body was taken to . . . [illegible]. . . call. Funeral services will be held at the funeral chapel with the Rev. M.R. Everett officiating. Burial will follow in Silverbrook cemetery.

 

Vetter, Charles C.

Charles C. Vetter, 77, Dies; Funeral Monday

Charles C. Vetter, 77, prominent and widely known farmer, died at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at his farm home five miles north of Niles.

The deceased was born in Germany May 7, 1856 and came to this country when he was 14 years old with his parents.  They came directly here. Forty-three years ago Friday he was married in Niles to Miss Elizabeth Verde who survives him.

Surviving besides the widow are three children, Miss Lydia Mae Vetter, Frank Vetter and Clarence Vetter, all living in the Niles neighborhood.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Price and Kiger funeral home with the Rev. G.W. Simon in charge.  The family has requested that flowers be omitted. Friends may call at the funeral home until time for the services. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
