NILES—Elizabeth E. Tiller, 76, 1413 Maple St., died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday at the Schato Nursing Home after an illness of three years.
Mrs. Tiller was born Aug. 23 1901 in Evanston, Ill., and had lived here since 1967, coming from Chicago. She was a retired real estate broker.

On Nov. 23, 1966, In Chicago, she was married to Austin T. Tiller, who survives.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Pifer Chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles E. Wilson officiating. Services will follow a wake service scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mrs. Ora K. Moore of Chicago, a step daughter, also survives.

Tyson, Bertha

Mrs. Bertha Tyson, 68, Active in Work of Rebekahs, Dies

Mrs. Bertha Tyson, 68, of 62 Marmont street, died at 8:15 o'clock this morning at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Tyson has lived in Niles for the past 44 years, having moved here from South Bend.


She was born in Hopewell, N.J., March `19 1868, and was married 46 years ago to George Tyson in Lambertville, N.J.


Beside her husband, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Snowden, Hopewell. Tow children receded her in death.


Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but friends may call at the Rutherford funeral home.

Niles News In Brief: TYSON RITES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Tyson, 68, who died at her home, 62 Marmont street, Tuesday morning will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Rutherford funeral home by the Rev. James F. Goodman. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. Members of the Rebekah lodge will meet at the funeral home at 1 o'clock to attend the services.

Niles News In Brief: TYSON RITES HELD

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Tyson, 68, were conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Rutherford chapel by the Rev. James F. Goodman. The Rebekah lodge, of which Mrs. Tyson was a member, also conducted its ritualistic service. Charles Culver, Herman Schrumpf, Bide Hoisington, Carl Shouder, Edward Hahn and Adolph Hess served as pallbearers. Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.

Niles News In Brief: DEWITT HUNTER DIES

DeWitt Hunter, Grand Rapids, widely known in Niles and vicinity, died at his home Wednesday morning after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, the former Josephine Bohn of Niles, and one sister, Mrs. Florence Van Wormer, Canton, Mich.; three nieces, Mrs. Milton Nichol, Canton, and Mrs. Evelyn Lockard and Miss Vera Schmidt, Niles. Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery Friday.

Niles News In Brief: HOME SERVICES MONDAY

The body of Mrs. Mary C. Home, former Niles resident, who died in San Diego, Cal., will arrive in Niles Sunday morning and will be taken immediately to the Price and Kiger funeral home. Services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon by the Rev. H.L. Nickolson at the Price and Kiger chapel. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Note: Age on Death Record was 68 years.

Former Resident Dies in Chicago

Mrs. Bertie H. Johnson, Chicago, died Saturday night at Chicago Memorial hospital after a week's illness of pneumonia.
She was formerly a Niles resident but had made her home in Chicago for the past 26 years.


Funeral services will be held at Boydston Brothers mortuary, Chicago, Tuesday morning, and committal in Niles at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from Rutherford's funeral home.


Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Alfred H. Johnson, and a grandson, John A. Johnson, Niles.

Mahan, Gary J.

Gary J. Mahan

Niles—Gary J. Mahan, 36, of 12 S. 15th St., died Friday at his home.


He was born June 24, 1941 in Vigo County, Ind., and had lived in the area most of his lifetime. Mr. Mahan was an employee of the Clark Equipment Corp., Buchanan.


On Oct. 10, 1964 in Niles, he married Gloria Donaghe, who survives.


Also surviving are his father, Virgil, of Bedford, Ind.; a son, Jamie, at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Cauffman and Mrs. Larry (Sonja) Kirk, both of Galien.


Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Pifer chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.


Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ettie Magrane, Lifelong Resident of Niles, Succumbs

Mrs. Ellie Magrane, 75, a lifelong resident of Niles, died at her home 654 North Seventh street, at 6:15 o'clock this morning. She had been ill since Sunday.


Born in Niles on Oct. 13, 1851, Mrs. Magrane is survived by one daughter, Miss Emma Magrane, Ludlow, Ill., and one son, Dr. H.J. Magrane, Mishawaka; also two grandchildren.
