The death of Ray S. McBride, 79, of 5026 Old Spanish Trail, Lantana, Fla. and formerly of Niles, was reported by family members. McBride died Tuesday, Feb. 9, after an illness of six weeks.
He was a lifetime member of the Niles Elks Lodge #1322 and a retired Amtrak engineer. He was born Feb. 12, 1908 in Muncie, Ind. and married Alma Burge July 3, 1926 at St. Mary's Church in Niles. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Margaret McBride Jackson and Betty DePoy of Niles, and Patricia Clark of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two brothers, H.V. McBride of Niles; and Dale McBride of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Hal Hughes of Conoga Park, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
McBride was cremated by the National Cremation Society. Local services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to hospice of Palm Beach County, 444 Bunker Road, West Palm Beach, Fla. 30405-3694.
