Rex Leach, 71, 918 S. 11th St., died Friday at his home following an illness of two years.

Mr. Leach was born Jan. 29, 1889, in Hartford and came to Niles to make his home 55 years ago. He was a retired employe of National-Standard Co., and following his retirement had operated his own machine shop. He also was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ (Evangelical and Reformed) and a life member of the Niles Elks Lodge.

Surviving are: his mother, Mrs. LeRoy Leach, Arcadia, Fla.; his widow, Amanda; four sisters, Mrs. Orin Ashby, Jackson, Mrs. Arthur Evans, Tecumseh, Mrs. Michael Julastic, Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Jesse Kline, Arcadia, Fla. And two brothers, Gail Leach, Toledo, Ohio, and Joseph Leach, Huntsville, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home here with the Rev. Richard Fraser, pastor of St. John's United church of Christ (Evangelical and Reformed), officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends are being received at the funeral home.

*Although not mentioned in the obituary, for many years from 1918, “Mr. and Mrs. Rex Leach sang” was in hundreds of wedding and funeral announcements.
