John F. Bessemer, 82, of 6 South Barrett street, died Sunday at the Quick Convalescent home. He had been ill for three years and spent the last two years and some months at the Quick home.

Surviving are nieces and nephews in Elkhart, Ind., Crawfordsville, Ind., and Niles and a brother [illegible].

Bessemer was born in Niles Aug. 18, 1867, and spent his life here. He was a member of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church. He served with the U.S. Volunteers in both the Spanish-American war in 1898 and the Philippine Insurrection in 1899.

Friends may call at the Kiger funeral home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Harold Hohman. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
