Willie James, 76, 1134 N. Ninth St., Niles died Thursday at 7:15 p.m. at the Woodfield Manor, Niles
He was born Sept. 23, 1910 in Columbus, Miss. and came to this area in 1954 from Osceola, Ark. He married Leoma James Sept. 5, 1945 in Lucus [sic] county, Ohio. She died Dec. 25, 1986.
He was a retired employee of Midland Engineering, where he worked until 1976 as a roofer. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles.
Survivors include five sons, Joe of Niles, Willie Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, John, Charles, and Charlie of Seattle, Wash.; four daughters, Pauline Clemmer and Lucinda Patrick of Niles, Hattie Kelley of Buchanan and Ruthie James of Flint; three stepsons, Henry Anderson of Kentucky, Rev. Ebenezer Spencer of Bangor and Willie Spencer of South Bend.
Services are Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where Rev. W.L. Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. A wake service is slated for Monday from 7-8 p.m. at the Hoven Funeral Home.
