NILES—James H. Robbins, 75, 1348 Sheffield Ave., died at 8:33 a.m. Sunday at Pawating Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a 27-year veteran of the city fire department, retiring in 1958.
Mr. Robbins was born Oct. 23, 1900 in Otia, Mich., and had lived in Niles since 1915, coming from Solon Springs, Wis.
He is survived by his wife Vera M. Robbins; two daughters, Mrs. Johnie (Marjorie) Rodebush and Mrs. William (Barbara) Ortmann, both of Niles; a brother, Charlie Robbins, also of Niles; six sisters, Mrs. Alta Hahn, Mrs. Edna Siderits, Mrs. Frances Newman, Mrs. Vivian Ferris and Mrs. Minnie Wiggins, all of Niles, and Mrs. Alice Farrell, of Albuquerque, N.M. , five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs.[sic] Robbins will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Ferry of the Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home.
Acting Fire Chief Capt. Marlon Fuller has announced that the flag at he fire house has been lowered to Half-mast in memory of Mr. Robbins.
