Mrs. Mary E. “Liz” Wheeler, 61, of 16 N. 18th St., Niles, died Friday at 9:42 a.m. In Pawating Hospital after a short illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1921 in Ottawa, Ontario, Cananda[sic], she had lived here since 1963, coming from Union City. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, a veteran of World War II in the Army Nursing corps, and was a member of the Lady Elks. She was a Former Registered Nurse and anesthetist at Pawating Hospital.
In Detroit on Dec, 18, 1948, she was married to Charles P. Wheeler, who survives. Her mother, Mrs. Nora Bush of Niles, also survives. One son, Michael Wheeler of Niles; and two daughters, Miss Suzanne Wheeler of South Bend, and Mrs. Park (Peggy) Maiers of Niles, survive along with three grandchildren. Her half-brother, Donald Shaw of Ottawa, Ontario, Cnanada[sic], also survives.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's Catholic Church with Rev. Donald A. Wieber officiating. Burial will take place at Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at Halbritter Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Michigan Heart Association.
