Nelson Boy's Death Blamed on Uremia; Funeral Ban Lifted
Plan for a private funeral for Jon Scott Nelson, 5, who died Sunday night at 6:30 in Pawating hospital after an illness of only a few hours, were abandoned today after an autopsy disclosed that the boy died of uremic poisoning rather than spinal meningitis, according to the original diagnosis.
Services which all the relatives and friends of the family may attend will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 by the Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster in the Pifer funeral home.
The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nelson, Sr., 551 First court, left Friday for California to visit their son, Arthur Nelson, Jr., father of the boy, who lives in Ventura, Calif., and their daughter, Miss Audrey Nelson, who is stationed in Oakland, Calif., with the WAVES. The grandparents arrived in California Monday.
