Andrew Cleland, Niles Native, Dies; Committal Here
Committal rites for Andrew Vincent Cleland, Minneapolis, Minn., who was born in Niles in 1855, will be early Tuesday afternoon in Silverbrook cemetery.
Mr. Cleland, son of pioneer Niles residents, the late Andrew J. Cleland and Mary Barron Cleland, died Saturday in Minneapolis where he had been manufacturing grain elevator machinery the last 50 years.
He first was associated in the manufacturing business with his father and brother, Herbert W. Cleland; and later by individual ownership of the Cleland Manufacturing Company.
Service Today
His wife, the former Emma Tuttle, daughter of the late J.S. Tuttle, Niles, died in Minneapolis five years ago. Surviving are two nephew[sic], Worth C. Harder, Indianapolis, and J. Harold Harder, Toledo, and a niece, Mrs. Marie Baron Hagee, St. Louis.
The funeral was conducted this afternoon in Minneapolis, The body will arrive in Niles at 12:29 Tuesday afternoon and will be taken directly to Silverbrook cemetery.
