BLAINE M'CLARY KILLED BY BIG FOUR TRAIN
Body Found Near Eden's Eddy by Transient--Train crew Unaware of Accident
Blaine McClary, 39, was probably instantly killed last evening by a Big Four train, the accident occurring near Eden's eddy, between Bond street and Broadway. As Mike Powers, a transient, who gives his home as 320 Randolph street, Detroit, was walking along the tracks, about 7:30 o'clock, he found the mangled body of the Niles man, and came down town and notified the night police. The body was removed to the Troost undertaking rooms.
A work train which leaves Niles about 7 o'clock, southbound, evidently struck McClary, but as no report of the accident was made, probably the crew was unaware that such an accident had occurred.
Blaine was born in Niles in November, 1883, and had practically spent his entire life here and was well known. He was a son of the late James P. McClary, Civil war veteran, and Sarah McClary. The latter now lives in Bettle Creek. Besides the mother, he is survived by three brothers and one sister, as follows: William and Cleve McClary of Niles, Bert McClary of South Bend and Mrs. Emory Hare of Battle Creek. The latter, accompanied by her husband, their children and her mother, left Battle Creek soon after receiving the message at 2:45 o'clock this morning and reached Niles at 5:30 o'clock, driving through in their car.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Troost undertaking rooms and will be strictly private. Burial will take place in the family lot in Silver Brook cemetery.
