Ernest Leland Mass, 70, of 1122 Cass Street, resident of this community for the past 50 years, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Pawating Hospital where he had been admitted Wednesday. He had been ill for the past week.
Mr. Maas, a retired employe of the Michigan Department of Revenue, was born Sept. 18, 1888, in South Bend. He was a member of the Niles Elks Lodge and was treasurer of the Clear Lake Property Owners Association, Buchanan.
Surviving are: his widow, Gertrude; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Dickey, of Jackson, and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home with John Kinner, pastor of the First Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Ernest Leland Maas, 70, of 1122 Cass street, resident of this community for the past 50 years and a retired employe of the Michigan Department of Revenue, died Thursday night in Pawating Hospital. It was erroneously stated in a previous announcement of the death that he deceased's last name was Mass.
