Donald E. Carpenter

Donald E. Carpenter, 80, Wayne Street, Niles, MI, died at 2:55 Monday September 5, 2005 at his home.
He was born March 4, 1925, in Niles to Carl and Effie Bickel Carpenter who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Gail Kendall on January 13, 2002; five brothers, Carl, Raymond, Clarence, Bion and Robert; and sisters, Arietta, Edna, Alma and Ruth.
He served in the Army in 1943 and was a member of the AMVETS in Niles. He loved country music, western movies and was an avid reader of Western novels. He also loved playing the guitar and singing. He was employed in Carpentry and cabinetry for most of his life. He was also employed with the Brandywine school system for several years.
On May 24, 1946 in Niles, he married Charlotte N. Smith who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert W. Carpenter of Niles; daughters, Pamela D. (Frederick) Carpenter of Niles and Sheila Carpenter of Cincinnati, Oho; grandchildren, Christopher J. Carpenter of Niles, Mandi Gail Kendall of Chicago, Martina Marie Marina of Niles, Johnathan Balint of Cincinnati, Ohio, Donald W. Carpenter of Niles, Dawn Miller, South Bend, Ind; five great-grandchildren, Bradley Jon Boller of South Bend, Isaiah Kendall Marina , Elijah Horton, and Brittany Carpenter, all of Niles and Blake Miller of South Bend.
There will be no services or visitation. Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, is handling arrangements.
