Died--In this city, at the residence of his son, J.M. Wells, on Thursday, July 5th, 1866, of Phthissis Pulmonalis, Mr. JONATHAN WELLS, aged 75 years.
Mr. Wells was an old and respected citizen of this city, having lived in this vicinity over thriy years. He was born at Sudbury, Massachusetts, and emigrated to the west at a very early day. When he first came to Niles there were very few white people living here, and the place where now stands the beautiful and thriving little city of Niles was at that time a howling wilderness. Mr. Wells was a strict adherent to his political opinions and believing the principles of the democratic party to be right, he voted none other but that ticket for fifty-five years.
