NILES--Mrs. Nellie Wells, 84, of 251 Cass St., died at 8:40 p.m. Monday at Pawating Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1889 in Santa Fe, Ind., Mrs. Wells lived in Niles 20 years and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Switchmen's Union. In November, 1923, in Niles, she married Melvin C. Wells, who died in April, 1974.[sic]
Survivors include two sons, Gale Johnson of Mattawan and Cecil Johnson of Chicago Ridge Ill., eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Pifer chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Homes with the Rev. Arlan Schlundt of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
